Remembering the Dead This Yuletide Season

 

Doris Maxine Perry 

Doris Maxine Perry, daughter of Ethel Maria Lease and Elmer Wasson Perry, was born March 8, 1921 in Fortescue, Holt County, Missouri. She married Maurice Lee Gould on September 8, 1940 in Clark County Nevada. They had a son named Gregory Gould and adopted a daughter named Maureen Gould. After Maurice's death as well as her second marriage and divorce with Charles Dwight Tritle, Doris married Joseph John Kook in 1985. She died on December 22, 2011 in Riverside, California. Doris is buried in Crestlawn Memorial Park with her first husband Maurice.

Joseph John Kook 

Joseph John Kook, son of Joseph and Josephine Kokoska, was born July 6, 1916 in Detroit, Wayne County, Michigan. He served as a first lieutenant in the U.S. Army during World War II. He married his first wife Lillian E. Hildebrandt on December 30, 1939 in Detroit, Michigan. After her death, Joseph married Doris Maxine Gould in 1985. He died January 1, 2013 in Riverside, California. He is buried in Riverside National Cemetery with his first wife Lillian.

Alliu "Ollie" Gunderson 

Alliu Gunderson, daughter of Andrew Lasseson Gunderson and Sarah Christine Knutson, was born November 28, 1874 in Wallingford, Emmet County, Iowa. She married Henry John Beucus. They had several children including my great grandpa Elmer Raymond Beucus, Adelaide, Barbara, Clarence, Hazel, Kenneth, George, and Herald. She died January 7, 1967 in San Mateo, California. Alliu "Ollie" Gunderson is buried in the San Francisco National Cemetery. 




Elmer Raymond Beucus 

Elmer Raymond Beucus, son of Henry John Beucus and Alliu "Ollie" Gunderson, was born December 16, 1909 in Bradley, Kankakee County, Illinois. He married Fonda Doris Magill. They had three children including my grandma Deborah "Debi" Beucus, Barbara "Bobbie" Beucus, and Brian Beucus. Elmer died on January 13, 1989. Elmer Raymond Beucus is buried in the Riverside National Cemetery in California. He served as a lieutenant colonel in the U.S. Air Force in both World War II and Korea.

James Hampton Surratt

James H. Surratt, son of Ervin W Surratt and Sarah Ann Sims, was born August 3, 1890. He married Juanita A. Allinder on January 4, 1914 in Faulkner County, Arkansas. They had several children including my great grandfather James H. Surratt Jr., Willie Surratt, Edna Olline Surratt, Dora Lee Surratt, and Velma Lucille Surratt. He died January 17, 1976. James H. Surratt is buried in Shady Grove Cemetery in Bald Knob, White County, Arkansas.
