My mother, Summer Gould, at age 8 visited Forest City, Missouri in the summer with her grandma Doris Maxine Perry. It was the first time my mom ever flew on a plane, and she got to sit by the window. They visited Doris' sister Charlotte Isabelle Perry. Mom saw lightning bugs aka fireflies for the first time, but she poked the wholes in the jar too big so they escaped into Charlotte's house. She had to hunt down all the fireflies, and grandma Doris was not happy. They also visited Uncle Al and Aunt Nita's home in Forest City. Albert and Nita's daughter Suzanne had a son named Brian Teal about a year younger than my mom. They played hide and seek in the basement. Mom went with Uncle Al to the hardware store and everyone knew her name. Forest City is a quaint small town. Then, mom went on a road trip to Arkansas with Doris and Charlotte.
