My third great grandpa Charles Milton Trantham, son of Mary Elizabeth Trantham, married Mary Lula McDonough on 25 October 1899 in Sebastian County, Arkansas. In 1900, Charles age 27 and Mary Lula age 19 lived in Bonanza, Sebastian County, Arkansas with their daughter Hazel born in March of 1900. Charles worked as a coal miner. Charles Milton age 30 and Mary Lula age 28 lived in Jim Fork, Sebastian County, Arkansas in 1910 with their children Hazel age 9, Clyde age 8, Ruby age 6, and Edward 11 months old. As of right now, I have still not found whether Mary Lula died or if her and Charles got divorced. A new research project to add to my list. On 22 January 1918, Charles Milton Trantham wed Nellie Ladoris Allen in Sebastian County, Arkansas. Charles Milton age 40 and Nellie age 31 lived in Sebastian County, Arkansas in 1920 with Charles' children Ruby Trantham age 15, Edward Trantham age 10, and Ray Trantham age 5 as well as Nellie's kids Thelma Allen age 11 and Oirl [which I believe is Orville] Allen age 6. Charles' father-in-law Eliza Bishop age 79 and mother-in-law Sallie A Bishop age 79 also lived with the family. In 1930, Charles Milton age 53 and Nellie age 40 lived in Jim Fork, Sebastian County, Arkansas with Thelma Allen age 21, Orville Allen age 17, Ray Trantham age 16, Darrell Trantham age 10, Joy Trantham age 7, Howard A Trantham age 4, and Virginia Sue Trantham 2 months old. In 1940, Charles Milton age 63 and Nellie age 51 lived with Joy age 17, Buddy age 14, and Sue age 10 in Jim Fork, Sebastian County, Arkansas. Charles worked as a loader for the coal mine. On 12 July 1946, Charles Milton Trantham died in Sebastian County, Arkansas. He is buried in Mount Olive Cemetery in Midland, Sebastian County, Arkansas.

2 Branches Become 1

Edward Charles Trantham and Effie Wilma (McCoy) Trantham

Edward Charles Trantham, son of Charles Milton Trantham and Mary Lula McDonough, married Effie Wilma McCoy, daughter of Andrew Jackson McCoy and Melvina Eakle, on 9 January 1929 in Greenwood, Sebastian County, Arkansas. The date on the image of their marriage certificate looks like a 9 while the index lists it as the 10th of January. Their daughter Wanda Dean Trantham was born 29 January 1932 in Fort Smith, Sebastian County, Arkansas. Edward and Effie Trantham moved to Kentucky by 1940 and California by 1950. Their daughter Wanda age 18 lived with her husband James H. Surratt age 26 and her brother Charles Edward Trantham age 16 in Fort Smith, Sebastian County, Arkansas in 1950. Wanda also eventually made her way to California, where she still lives today.
