Deborah "Debi" (Beucus) Gould
Life Story
Deborah Beucus, daughter of Fonda Doris Magill and Elmer Raymond Beucus, was born on 18 August 1947 in Santa Clara, California. In 1950, Deborah age 2 lived with her parents Elmer age 40 and Fonda age 31 as well as her sister Barbara "Bobbie" Joyce age 6 in Menlo Park, San Mateo County, California. Debi grew up as an air force brat with her siblings Bobbie and Brain Ned Beucus.
They lived all over the place from Germany to Utah, Morocco to Missouri, and Arizona to California. Debi learned how to fish from her Grandpa Raymond John Magill in Utah. She went to high school in Missouri. Debi attended Riverside Community College in California, where she met Greg through mutual friends. She walked up to Grandpa Greg saying that she heard he was a good bowler and asked when he was going to take her bowling. They transferred to San Diego State, where Grandma Debi majored in geology. She later got her teaching credentials and masters degree. Debi and Greg got married on 10 January 1971 in Riverside, California.
Grandma Debi worked at a WT Grant department store in the shithole that is Corona, before later moving to San Diego after Brian and Greg drove down to find an apartment. Debi and Greg had two daughters Summer Gould and Melissa Gould. They later lived in Santee, Lakeside, and later Jamul.
Debi and Greg enjoyed travelling. They went on family vacations to Hawaii, Yellowstone, Alaska, the Redwoods, San Francisco, and Yosemite. Later on, Debi and Greg traveled abroad to Tahiti, Panama, New Zealand, and Columbia. They also enjoyed going to music festivals and concerts together. Unfortunately, Grandma Debi developed dementia and later Alzheimer's Disease. She passed away on 14 July 2025 at Frederika Manor Summer House in Chula Vista, California. She will always be remembered as a loving sister, wife, mother, and grandmother.
Fun Facts
- She loved sea turtles and desert tortoises. Debi even rescued California Desert Tortoises that continue to live in her backyard
- Her favorite music included blues and jazz, which was always playing in the car when she would pick me up after school
- Grandma Debi loved ice cream even though she was lactose intolerant. She often took me to Baskin Robins to get ice cream together after school
- She lived to give hugs
- Debi loved to play puzzle games from mahjong to candy crush
- She also enjoyed playing solitaire
- The Pirates of the Caribbean movies were her favorite. Captain Jack Sparrow always made her laugh
- For breakfast, she liked to eat bacon and tomato sandwiches
- Grandma Debi loved camping and hiking
- Her favorite drink was Glenlivet Scotch
- She enjoyed cooking all sorts of different cuisines from Italian spaghetti to Moroccan pinchitos to German bratwurst with sauerkraut to Mexican tacos
- She liked baking zucchini bread, blueberry muffins, and banana bread
- Grandma Debi loved her pet cats
- She hosted neighborhood Easter egg hunts with real hard boiled eggs
- Her popularity as a girl scout troop leader was unmatched
- Debi loved going to Gator by the Bay for the food and music
Personality Cards

Debi was passionate about education, and pushed for reforms. She even received an award for her dedication and hard work. She worked at the YMCA, and the state of California inspecting child care sites. The High Priestess is a card of intuition, knowledge, and independence. When Summer and Melissa were trick-or-treating out in the neighborhood, a guy on a bike stole Summer's pillow case of candy. A few minutes later Debi pulled up in the car asking what was wrong. She often had intuitive hints and high emotional intelligence. She always knew things, and Greg never believed in psychic gifts until he married Debi because she constantly had intuitive reads about people.
Debi's Leo sun sign in astrology corresponds with the Major Arcana card of Strength and the court card King of Wands. Strength is a card of compassion, courage, and perseverance. Grandma Debi was known for her strength of heart and her warm, generous spirit. She was a caregiver, and always helping other people. King of Wands means achievement-oriented, leadership, and self-expressive. Debi was confident and willing to stand up to anyone if she knew she was right.
