Honoring Our Veteran Ancestors

In honor of Veteran's Day this week, lets remember our family members and ancestors who served our country over the years: 

• William Mark Dorn Jr. - son of Wanda Dean Trantham and William Mark Dorn Sr., served as a machinist's mate in the US Navy
• Gregory Gould - son of Doris Maxine Perry and Maurice Lee Gould, served as E5 in the 4th battalion of the 39th infantry, 9th division at Firebase Danger in the Mekong River Delta of southern Vietnam
• Barbara Joyce Beucus - daughter of Fonda Doris Magill and Elmer Raymond Beucus, served as a staff sergeant in the US Army stationed at Fort Sam in Houston, Texas as well as Fort Benning in Georgia and Fort Rucker in Alabama
• Robert Joseph Surratt -  son of Wanda Dean Trantham and James Harden Surratt Jr., served as a marine corporal stationed in Camp Pendleton, Hawaii, and Vietnam 
• William Mark Dorn Sr. - son of Violet Camela Moore and Lewis Thomas Dorn, served as a machinist's mate chief in the US Navy stationed in Florida and Bremerton, Washington 
• Joseph John Kook - husband of Doris Maxine (Perry) Gould, served as a 1st lieutenant in US Army during World War II 
• Elmer Raymond Beucus - son of Alliu Gunderson and Henry John Beucus, served as a lieutenant colonel in the US Air Force during World War II and Korea stationed in Utah, California, Morocco, Germany, and Missouri
• Henry John Beucus - son of Henrietta and John Beucus, served in company G of the 3rd regiment Wisconsin infantry in the Spanish-American War

Thank you to all of our family members and ancestors who served! This week we honor your courage, dedication, and sacrifice. 

P.S. For time's sake, I did only trace our ancestors back to my third great grandparents since I had to check each gravestone for military inscriptions. So, there are probably more ancestors who served in other wars.
