Meaning of the Allinder Surname

There are a couple possible origins including

  1. Swedish ornamental name from Alseda (a village parish in Smaland from al 'alder') + inder adapted from Greek andros of aner 'man'
  2. English Scottish variant of Allender from Middle English alendere 'arriver' 'newcomer'
I traced the Allinder family to Arkansas, Alabama, Mississippi, Virginia, Maryland, Kentucky, and New Jersey. The Allinder line goes back to England in the early 1600s.
